Custom boat building requires a dedicated team for all fields. Every Yacht project does involve a lot of engineering and design. For custom yacht except structural design, many drawing are made in house during construction to suit the owner requirement involving flexibility and engineering skills. Production boat on the opposite are fully engineered before hand where the first unit is a prototype used to validate the design and engineering upon wich very little customization and flexibility is possible.
Building in Thailand does offer the opportunity to have a custom yacht built for an affordable price. For a custom Yacht built to be at a level of finish that can be compared to production boat it does require large amount of men hours that will make the building in a high labor cost country economically non-viable.
Yacht owner who decides to have their own yacht built most of the time have not been able to find in the production line a model that corresponds to their need.
To ensure quality built a recognized Naval Designer is compulsory. For a quality built, quality product and equipement have to be used. As there is next to no local marine product manufacturer most of it has to be imported. Serenity Shipyard through its BOI promotion from the Thailand governement is entitled to import duty exemption which limits this extra cost.
Design
Serenity Shipyard does welcome your own design. If it has been done by a naval designer we will be working closely with him and make sure that his design and most important the structural engineering are being carefully followed. If your design as not been made by a naval designer we will then present you the most suited Naval Designer to fit your project.
In case no design have been yet done, we will support you to finalize your project and having pre-designs made until they suit your requirement.
Financial Risk
The financial risk of having his own Yacht being built is the most important side of such a project. The most common practice is stage payment where the main payment is made right at the begining of the project. To minimise such risk, Serenity Shipyard do work through monthly payment upon men hours done and material used, fund rising for equipment is done the same month as it is being ordered.
